International freight traffic dynamics

Building materials exports will create a new generation of wealthy people in Kazakhstan.

In the first half of this year, the total area of newly built housing in Kazakhstan reached 7.93 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%! Don't mistake this as just a number—behind it lies the enormous dividends of China's building materials exports!

For example, by 2024, Kazakhstan's building materials market will exceed 600 billion tenge, with 65% coming from imports. From non-refractory tiles, glass panels, door and window hardware, to sanitary ware and electrical lighting, Chinese manufacturing is completely taking over this market.

Why is Kazakhstan suddenly so strong? You might think it's real estate, but it's actually the population and urbanization driving it!

Young population plus booming demand: China's population exceeds 20 million, with over 50% under the age of 35. The marriage and childbirth boom coupled with the urgent need for housing has created a rigid demand for housing.

Aging housing and multi-generational cohabitation: A large number of Soviet-era homes are being replaced, unleashing demand for upgraded housing.

Urbanization is accelerating: the urbanization rate will reach 61% in 2024, catching up to China's 66.2%.
To put it bluntly, Kazakhstan is experiencing the familiar cycle of building houses, which then drives the entire building materials industry—a near-repeat of China's development in the 2000s.

Chinese factories must keep an eye on this market; it's a perfect place for overseas expansion!

The cities with the most aggressive construction are concentrated in Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, and Akmola Oblast. The products most in short supply in the market are: tiles, glass panels, slag bricks, mortar, bathroom fixtures, lighting, furniture, door and window hardware... Growth rates are generally around 20%, but competition is not intense, making this a prime opportunity!

This opportunity isn't limited to Kazakhstan; the entirety of Central Asia is returning to a real estate-driven industrial development model. The cost-effectiveness of Chinese factories here will be magnified tenfold!
