Alumni Afternoon Tea Issue 33 | Our Eye's Leader: Following Alumni Wang Lanhua for Ten Years in Cross border Logistics

As an employee of Shandong YESMORE Logistics, today I would like to talk to you about our founder, alumnus Wang Lanhua (Finance and Accounting, Class of 1999, School of Management). Not a grand narrative, but a tangible guide in our eyes.

1、 A pragmatic boss who came out of the mountains
Mr. Wang often said that she came out of the mountains of Zichuan. In 1999, she was admitted to the School of Management at Shandong University of Technology to study finance and accounting. Her thirst for knowledge and expectations for the future shaped her down-to-earth foundation. She always tells us that it's fortunate to be able to attend university, work, and start a business in Zibo. This deep affection for hometown has also been integrated into the development of the company.

2、 The rigorous training in science and engineering has become the cornerstone of the company
As the first graduating class (class of 2002) after the renaming of Shandong University of Technology, Mr. Wang has a deep affection for his alma mater. She always emphasizes that her knowledge of finance and accounting in STEM has not been in vain: 'People who study finance are inherently more cautious and rigorous.' This is something we have deeply felt in our daily work. The shadow of financial thinking can be seen everywhere in cost accounting, risk assessment, and process optimization. The rigor brought by this professional background is the key to the steady development of the company. Mr. Wang himself is a role model for learning. After starting work, he also attended the MBA program at Hainan University and the CEO program at Zhejiang University. During the epidemic, he accumulated 320 hours of listening to books. This spirit of continuous learning also drives us.

3、 Ten years of state-owned enterprises, honing real skills
Mr. Wang graduated and joined a state-owned enterprise, where he worked for ten years. She said that when she first started working, she didn't even know what a container was. But it was during those ten years that she relied on learning and practice to obtain hard core certificates such as customs declaration officer, inspection officer, and senior logistics specialist, and mastered the intricacies of international logistics. She always shares that experience with us, saying that the state-owned enterprise platform taught her true skills and accumulated valuable connections and experience. She often says that her foundation in finance and accounting allows her to think more thoroughly and have a stronger sense of risk when making logistics decisions.

4、 Ten years of entrepreneurship, the path we have walked together
In 2015, Mr. Wang founded YESMORE Logistics, and this year marks its tenth anniversary. Since its establishment, the company has caught the good opportunity of the national "the Belt and Road", focusing on railway containers and cross-border automobile transportation from China Europe Express to Central Asia and Russia. We old employees all remember the hardships of the early stages of entrepreneurship and have witnessed the company's gradual growth: from a single railway transportation to now covering multiple sea, land, and air modes, from local Zibo to setting up branches in Moscow and Tashkent, providing professional solutions for different customers (railway container, automobile transportation, and even new energy vehicle specialized transportation). We are quite proud to be able to participate and transport products from Zibo and China. The company's slogan 'YESMORE International, your logistics manager by your side' is our goal to strive for.

5、 Social responsibility through words and deeds
Mr. Wang has strict requirements at work, but in life she is a warm-hearted person. As an employee, we see her holding multiple positions: Secretary General of the Alumni Entrepreneurs Association of the School of Management, Vice President of the Zibo Machinery and Electrical Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, and so on, but she has devoted a considerable amount of time to public welfare. The company has a tradition that has been adhered to for ten years - giving books to children every Children's Day. She also took us to help the orphaned children in "Handou Homeland", and gave warmth to the sanitation workers on Loong Boat Festival. She said, 'Public welfare has a starting point, love has no end.' We see this intention in our eyes and are willing to do it together.

6、 Rooted in Zibo, serving our hometown
Wang is always a native of Zibo, born in Zichuan, grew up in Zibo, studied in science and engineering, and started his own business in Zibo. She has a particularly deep affection for her hometown. As the vice president of Zibo Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics, she actively promotes local enterprises to "go global" and promote trade with the regions along the "the Belt and Road". In enterprises with this philosophy, we also believe that rooting in Zibo and contributing to the development of our hometown is a meaningful thing.

7、 Inspiration for us: Crossing boundaries and perseverance
The successful cross-border logistics from finance has given us great inspiration. She always says, 'Nothing is in vain.' In the daily operation of the company, we deeply appreciate the advantages brought by her financial background: careful cost calculation, early risk prediction, and rigorous rationality in making decisions. She often encourages us not to be confined by our profession. As long as we are willing to learn and work hard, we can broaden our horizons. Her own experience is the best proof - from not understanding containers to strategizing global logistics. Her advice to young people is very practical: "Stick in your industry for long enough." This "long termism" is also the secret for the company to survive ten years of storms.

8、 Moving forward together in the future
The company has grown together with the national "the Belt and Road" initiative in the past ten years. In the future, Mr. Wang and our goal remains clear: to continue providing efficient and reliable logistics services for Chinese products to go global. As employees, we believe that under the leadership of Mr. Wang and with her solid financial foundation and rich logistics experience, the company can seize new opportunities. She has always been concerned about her alma mater. As the Secretary General of the Alumni Entrepreneurs Association, she strives to build a platform for alumni exchange, hoping to help more younger students.
Lead the way steadfastly and grow together
In the years we have worked at YESMORE, the Wang Lanhua alumnus in our eyes is not a "pioneer" shrouded in a halo, but a pragmatic and hardworking leader who has come out of the mountains. She has integrated the rigorous training of science and engineering, the skills cultivated by state-owned enterprises, and the thinking of finance into every step of entrepreneurship. Her story tells us that crossing boundaries requires courage, continuous learning, and down-to-earth perseverance; Entrepreneurship is not easy, but by focusing on professionalism and moving forward steadily, one can go further.
