Foreign Trade Lecture: Export Certification

Certification is crucial for entering the five Central Asian markets. Missing even one certification could result in your goods being stuck at customs, costing you money. Today, we'll share with you the certifications, the certification process, and other important points to avoid, to help you avoid unnecessary mistakes!

EAC Certification (Customs Union Certification) - The "Master Key" to Opening the Five-Nation Market

As members of the Eurasian Economic Union, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan require EAC certification for most products, essentially acting as a "ticket" to the five Central Asian markets. Common products like machinery, electronics, and electrical appliances, such as toys, fall under this mandatory certification.

How to Choose a Certification Type

Certificate of Conformity (COC): This is required for high-risk products, such as children's toys and medical devices. Sample testing and factory audits are required, and the certification is valid for one to five years, with annual supervisory audits. While it's a hassle, it's highly recognized.

Declaration of Conformity (DOC): This is applicable for low-risk products, such as ordinary adult clothing and everyday household items. The main audit documents, such as technical documentation and test reports, do not require a factory audit, and are valid for up to five years.

Kazakhstan's GOST-K Certification: A "Special Pass" to the Local Market

Even with EAC certification, some products still require GOST-K certification to enter the Kazakhstan market. Products like food, cosmetics, and building materials are generally required.

Certification Types

Compulsory certification: The certificate is blue and is required for products with high safety, health, and environmental protection requirements.

Voluntary certification: The certificate is pink. Although not mandatory, obtaining this certification can increase the popularity of your product among local consumers, so applying is recommended.

Specific Certifications in Various Countries - Don't Miss Them

1. Uzbekistan's GOST-Uz Certification: Uzbekistan requires GOST-Uz certification for many products, such as textiles and electronics. Companies must submit an application to a certification body designated by the Uzbek Agency for Standards, Metrology, and Certification, providing product specifications, technical documentation, test reports, and other materials. Only after review and approval can the certificate be obtained.

2. Tajikistan: The Tajikistan Agency for Standardization, Metrology, and Certification is responsible for TJT certification, which covers products in various sectors, including machinery, building materials, and food. Applications require an application form, company qualifications, product technical documentation, and test reports. The certification body will review and test the product and issue the certificate.

3. Turkmenistan: The Turkmenistan Institute of Standardization is responsible for TDS certification. Imported products entering the local market must apply according to the requirements. Similarly, various documents must be prepared and the certification body will review and test the product.
